Dating a Daddy–Yea or Nay?

Screen Shot 2014-02-18 at 7.26.06 AM

Today’s episode of BDG.TV is a personal one for me. Some of you may know that for a while there, I only dated men with children. I didn’t plan it that way, it just happened. And in the process, I created some hard and fast ideas about daddies.

But before I share them with you, I’ll tell you about Ellen, a friend who just starting dating a man with a young child. It was totally blowing her mind! Dating a daddy made her feel mature and responsible. Simply, she felt like she was in an adult relationship. And she liked it.

Yet, some women wouldn’t dream of dating a daddy. They hate knowing they’ll always be #2 in their man’s life. That there are school plays, parent teacher nights, and little league games to schedule around. What a drag!

As for me, I was with Ellen. After my third daddy, I got the idea that daddies were more mature, stable, and adult-like. I also believed they were more emotional evolved, since they so freely displayed their love to their children.

But I made a big mistake. I ASSUMED men who are loving and amazing toward their kids are automatically as wonderful and loving in their relationships. NOT TRUE. In fact, it’s possible, and quite common for men to compartmentalize their romantic relationships from their father/child relationships.

So, should you date a daddy? Here’s how to decide:

1) Judge the man on his own, regardless of whether he has a kid or not!

2) If he rocks the house and has a kid–MORE TO LOVE!

3) If he doesn’t have a kid–that’s great too, as long as he treats you like gold.

Hope that helps clarify things for you, ladies. It’s really simple–if you love the guy, you’ll love his family situation too.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments–have you ever dated a daddy? What was your experience? More mature? Better? Worse? Let me know, I can’t wait to get the conversation going!

I’m Shocked! What you *Really* Want From a Man!

Screen Shot 2014-02-04 at 9.25.12 AM

I’m shocked! I thought I really knew what a savvy, successful, and stunning woman like you wants from a man.

But BOY, was I wrong! After interviewing dozens of women about their dating and love lives (for an exciting new project that I’ll share more about soon) I realize I was wrong, wrong, wrong!

I thought your top priority was security, chivalry, and of course LOVE. Now don’t get me wrong, you do want these things. But they’re not at the tippity-top of the list. Can you guess what is?

Someone who just gets it about…work! That’s right! You want to be understood, seen, and truly supported emotionally and spiritually in the work that you do. You don’t want your man to be your boss, or even in the same industry, necessarily. But you do want him to get it. You want him to get how driven you are. You want him to get it that for you it’s not just work, it’s your passion, and an expression of your best self!

Does this sound like you? Do you want a man who just gets it about work? Let’s get this conversation going, I have a feeling it’s gonna be a juicy one! Leave a comment–What do you really want from a man? I can’t wait to hear from you!

Till I see you soon, take good care of your sweet heart.

Is He Sending Mixed Messages?

Screen Shot 2013-12-21 at 10.48.33 AM

Wouldn’t it be nice if men said what they meant, so you knew where you stood? Yeah, that would be amazing!

But instead, men (and women, let’s be fair) tend to send a lot of mixed messages. Take for example, Ellen, who was telling me about her truly baffling on-again, off-again flirtation with a guy.

The scenario would go like this: 1) They’d spend some time together at a club they’re both part of, 2) He’d ask to hangout sometime, 3) She’s say “Yes, that sounds great,” And 4) He’s never follow up.

What gives? Is he scared of her? Does he not really like her at all?

No. He’s just unclear about what he wants. It’s true, you answered him relatively clearly with a “Yes, sounds great.” BUT I believe you’re attracting men who are unclear about what they want because you’re unclear about what you want.

But don’t worry–you didn’t do anything wrong. If you don’t know down to every little cell in your body, what you want in a relationship, how you want to feel, how you want to relate, and how you want to live your life with your partner, you’re normal. That takes some work. But it’s well worth it!

Because when you figure it out, that person will magically appear clearly and confidently. No mixed messages!

Leave a comment below–Have you ever received mixed messages from a guy? I can’t wait to hear!

Till I see you soon, take good care of your sweet heart.
